Job Opportunities in Intellectual Property Rights

India is now becoming a pioneer in outsourcing services and a knowledge economy. IP is a new interest for Indian inventors and growing Industries. To maintain its growth and to keep pace with the global competition, there is definite requirement to innovate, protect and build commercial and business strategy tools.

India has one of the largest numbers of talent pool of technology, science and engineers graduates from around the world. It has some of the most renowned technology institutes such as IIT’s and REC’s. But surprisingly, not a single institution or training program exists that offers IP and the entire gamut of patent portfolio management as a full-fledged “career option” for science graduates.
IP is a source of creating lucrative job opportunities and career opportunities for technically qualified professionals, academia and scientists

A number of academic institutes have started courses on IP, which are either short term programs or specialization at the post-graduate level. Some of these are IITs that have IP awareness programs as a part of their regular curriculum except for IIT Kharagpur, National Law Schools, Private Law Colleges like NALSAR, AIPS, IIPS, etc and private institutions like Global Institute of Intellectual Property (GIIP, Delhi)

Intellectual Property in Today’s Scenario is driving the world economy

Today, We live in an economy where ideas generated by people and the inventions they make are the new currency. Possession of land, labour and capital are just not enough for a country to succeed. Creativity and innovation are the new drivers of the world economy. Research and innovation are now seen as the key differentiatingfactors determining the market value of a product or service. The policies adopted by a country shall determine the nation’s growth and further how it is developing the trapped intellectual capital.

An effective intellectual property system is the foundation of such a strategy..The emphasis today has graduated from cost arbitrage and quality deliverables to IP creation and R&D.

Within knowledge-based, innovation-driven economies, the intellectual property system is a dynamic tool for wealth creation providing an incentive for enterprises and individuals to create and innovate; a fertile setting for the development of, and trade in intellectual assets; and a stable environment for domestic and foreign investment.
